Hawaiian Islands Land Trust Benefit
“These paintings are like portraits of my children,” said Scott Fisher, Director of Conservation for Hawaiian Island’s Land Trust. His remarks were made at the opening benefit exhibition to introduce new paintings by Ed Lane of HILT’s Waihe’e Coastal Dunes and Wetlands Refuge and Nu’u Landing. Scott expressed his great love for the land and his work as a steward of these lands as he introduced HILT”s mission and described the historic places seen in the paintings.
In the exhibit are seven paintings of two of HILT’s conservation lands in Maui. HILT has insured that both of these historic sites will remain in their natural state for all of us to enjoy and connect us to Maui’s past. Home originally to early Hawaiian settlements, both areas tell fascinating stories with petroglyphs, fresh water fish and taro ponds, riparian areas, and wild and pristine shoreline.
Thank you to all of you who came and supported the event.
For those of you who were unable to attend, we invite you to view these paintings as well as many others that comprises Ed’s 2013 show.
Although many paintings were sold at the opening, more are still available, as well as commissioned work. You are welcome to call
875-0828 for a studio visit. 20% of the sale of the HILT paintings will be donated to HILT.
