That is the painting philosophy of Maui Artist, Ed Lane, as he searches out dramatic Hawaiian Island vistas, plantation homes, churches and people.

In 1995 Ed completed a successful 36-year career as President and CEO of a large regional advertising agency headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. He then moved to Maui to fulfill a lifetime dream of becoming a full time artist.

Today Ed spends his days either in his Maui studio or doing plein air paintings in the Hawaiian Islands. He also travels in France with his easel, capturing the light, unique colors and vistas of Provence.

His paintings are in private collections in Hawaii, California, Arizona, New York, Washington, Florida, Illinois, England, Japan, Spain and France. His work has been selected in over 45 national juried shows.

"You want to keep looking… you want to live here, in the rich warm colors."
Maui Island Weekly, 3/00.

"Several… landscapes are remarkable. Foremost among those is Ed Lane's Golden Fields of Provence, a large, exuberant 2 panel painting that splendidly evokes the clean bright light of the South of France."
Honolulu Advertiser art critic, Virginia Wageman, 3/00
